Initial Information: Upon reaching out I suggest students provide the following information:

  • Their major
  • The course/topics they're seeking tutoring for
  • Any course material they're struggling with
  • Their mathematical background (What was the last math course you took? Do you like math?)
  • Their goals for our sessions together (Grade-wise or understanding-wise)

Once I know more about your needs, I will work to find the tutoring solution that is right for you.

Expectations on the Student: I expect all my students to come to sessions prepared, having attended class and taken notes, with all necessary books and materials, and having attempted homework. I will not hand you the answers to your homework/WebAssign problems. My goal is to guide you with leading questions and get you to come up with conclusions on your own.

Students with Disabilities: I will provide reasonable accommodations for any student with disabilities. If you have questions about any accommodation or need clarification on any issue, you are encouraged to email me at epavlec@ncsu.edu.

Recommended Lesson Duration: For most students, my recommended lesson length is 1 hour (60 minutes). Depending on the student's goals, this time can be extended, but all sessions will be capped at 2 hours.

Location: I am able to accomodate in-person and online tutoring. In-person tutoring sessions are held on NC State's campus, typically in D.H. Hill Library, Hunt Library, or Talley Student Union. Online tutoring sessions are held over Zoom.

Scheduling:  I understand that many students have very busy schedules, and am happy to accommodate each student's needs. I schedule lessons on a first-come, first-serve basis, and am currently available for lessons at the following times:

Monday, Wednesday, and Friday 10-11am

Payments: Billing begins at the scheduled session start time, this means that time spent waiting for a late student is billed as part of the session duration. I accept cash, personal checks, and most popular forms of online payment (Venmo, Zelle, and PayPal).

Rate Changes: I will honor your original rate for as long as you need tutoring, even if I have since raised my rate.

12-hour Cancellation Policy: For any cancellation, rescheduling, or postponing of a lesson with 12 hours or more notice, there is no fee. For cancellations after the 12-hour deadline, no fee will be charged the first time. If cancellations after the 12-hour deadline occur more than once, the full fee will be charged. If the student is more than 30 minutes late to the lesson, then I will also consider this a cancellation. I understand schedules change, so I try to be accommodating, but please understand that I put effort and time into planning lessons so that I can provide the best experience.
